Fiber Techs
Our Fiber Technicians are normally higher level structured cabling installers that have either been formally or informally trained in the art of “connectorizing” or terminating fiber connectors to fiber optic cable and or fusion splicing. If our fiber techs have been formally trained they will carry a certification from one of the manufacturers such as Siecor, Lucent, Corning or Unicam to name a few, or they may have formal training from a fiber training school. Most of our fiber techs have gained their experience from the field with hands on training. We can accommodate the need to supply a technician with a specific certification but it may take more time to identify these individuals.
Our higher level fiber techs will have the additional skill of fusion splicing fiber. These fiber techs have normally come from the structured cabling, telecommunications or outside plant telco industries. Many of our fusion fiber splicers will have formal training and therefore may carry a manufacturers certification from companies such as Fujikura, Sumitomo, EXFO or Corning to name a few. Just as above, most of our fusion splicers have gained their experience from hands on field experience in the telecom business.
The following two categories of our Fiber Technicians follow:
| Fiber Techs | Qualified for “connectorizing” or terminating LC, ST and SC connectors to single mode and multi-mode fiber optic cable through the following processes: Epoxy, Crimp and Hot Melt. All of these techs will have a fiber kit of their own. |
Fusion Splicers | Qualified for fusion splicing single and multi-mode fiber for inside or outside plant environments. These technicians will not have their own fusion splicers. |
